The Hunter Sports High project is a $30 million redevelopment of the existing high school, involving the demolition and replacement of around 90% of the existing school facilities. Redevelopment works were delivered in a staged approach, to accommodate the ongoing occupation and function of the school throughout the project. The design for the new school will deliver flexible and adaptive 21st century learning spaces to accommodate contemporary and emerging methods of teaching and educational collaboration.
The architectural design includes iconography with references to major sporting infrastructure and facilities, but also balances an approach which responds to the needs of the targeted sports excellence and the local catchment community student bodies.
