“Apartment Living in a House: A Contemporary Urban Residence”
This award winning inner urban residence is on a prominent corner block in the vibrant suburb of The Junction, Newcastle. Our design focus was to offer the comfort and convenience of apartment living within the context of a house.
The integration of distinguished layers of luxury in this lavish home exemplifies high quality architecture, prioritising environmental sustainability through a combination of passive and active ESD (Ecologically Sustainable Design) principles.
We incorporated ingenious features into the residence such as mechanically activated sunshade louvres, enabling residents to regulate solar access throughout the year. By utilising mechanically operated glass louvres, natural breezes effectively cool the dwelling, promoting a comfortable and energy-efficient living environment.
Despite its compact size, we created an illusion of openness by introducing double height living and dining overlooking a breathtaking lap pool, accentuated by backlit decorative metal screens.
The landscaping surrounding the property is characterised by a minimalist and sculptural aesthetic, clearly conversing with the modern architectural forms of the house. Our integration of glass stacking doors seamlessly connects the interior living spaces with the undercover entertaining area, maximising the influx of natural light and creating an enhanced sense of openness and expansiveness.
