A new rural residence was designed to complement an existing stone dairy and original slab dwelling. The new home sits on an east facing slope across a picturesque valley with a meandering creek line. The design follows a traditional farmhouse vernacular with a simple long eave line and a distinctive roof ventilator which accentuates linear topography of the contour lines of its gently sloping site.
The material palate is simple and refined using neutral tones to accentuate the warm colours of the stone piers and features. The overall look of the house is a refined rural residence that sits comfortably in its environment and utilises the existing buildings as assets that tell a long history of the site.
